Wise Blood – the debut full-length album from Brooklyn’s WOJCIK – will be released August 21, 2012. The album’s release will be celebrated Friday, August 17th @ Death By Audio, with Laura Stevenson (of Laura Stevenson and the Cans) and Leda (Amy Klein, ex-Titus Andronicus member).

The two-piece band is fronted by Hailey Wojcik who played most of the instruments on the recording, including guitars, vocals, and analog synth. She also incorporated field recordings made over the past year, and formed them into transitional pieces between each song, as well as layers in the songs themselves. The album was recorded at the Seaside Lounge in Brooklyn.

Wise Blood is a project inspired by Wojcik’s love of Flannery O’Connor, the Southern gothic, and her childhood in rural Michigan. It’s also inspired by her zookeeper parents who worked with coyotes in her youth—developing her empathy for and love of canids, to whom this record is dedicated.

An accompanying short film, Royal Black Royal Blue, shot by Wojcik in Michigan over the summer will be released soon. More details TBA.

Wise Blood is the follow-up to a self-titled EP released in the fall of 2011.
